My passion for an holistic food system and sexy agricultural sector arguable set me apart as one of the finest and foremost Food Justice Activist from Nigeria. Our food; our culture, our identity and the fabric of any national and societal unity will always spur me to be committed wherever the phrase food, food justice and food politics is projected either as a discuss or a project because, no society can exist without food
My aspiration is to see family farming become a central, political and social thrust to championing food security. It is imperative for me to show to Nigeria and the world just as I had done in some fora that family farming (rural farmers) is not just an antidote to food insecurity but income inequality.
Arresting the challenging of accessibility to market, post harvest handling and talents acquisition among others are key to making farming among the youths and even existing ones appealing, hence help in minimizing food loss, waste and hunger. True be told, family farmers supply over sixty percent of domestic food consumption in Nigeria compare to corporate farmers who produce vastly for industrial complexes and export, yet the vast potential and prosperity within this industry is still below average for some bottlenecks which make it de-motivating for our teeming unemployed youths to embrace.
On the other hand, the level of food fraud in the society is alarming, hence dragging many Nigerians into the poverty line while affecting our food brands in the global market. The multiplier effect of unwholesome food is unimaginable and worrisome.
I am committed to ensuring that our food system; I mean the part our food travels through from seed to plate and its effect to the environment is safe, clean, accessible, affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate to dietary requirements and more so enhance food reliance and sovereignty.
Whatever platform, set before me to achieve this feat legally and morally would always attract my signature even without a cent. This is evidence in the forthcoming Agriculture and Solid Minerals Expo 2017 in Nigeria where I have champion the NG Food Awards risking my life on Nigerian Roads, investing my time, energy and money pushing the event forward before UNIDO International Experts.
The Prestigious NG Food Awards is a unique competitive platform where entries are judge from experts drawn from food related backgrounds against international best practices, regulatory compliance and global acceptability. The awards cover the entire food value chains and exclude sponsorship from Nigerian food industries
